Helper Deactivation

Hey all! Admin-Deinmaar here!
I have an unfortunate announcement today. I will be deactivating all Helper statuses. As great as I know that role has the potential to be, we've had a lot of unfortunate issues involving Helpers, as I don't think the responsibilities for the role were completely understood. I've avoided adding new Helpers while I tried to restructure, but it seems that it's going to take longer than anticipated. For those that are still interested, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the restructure. I will eventually be opening up actual applications for the new Helper status, and I will expect any new Helpers to follow all rules applied to the position.
All Helpers statuses should be reset by this time. If you see any I missed, please be sure to send me a PM! My apologies to all my Helpers!

Something a bit more subtle is definitely an idea! I'll bring it up!
@Admin-Deinmaar I can see where technology might limit you -- though I can't say I understand what you mean by confusing and frustrating xD. It could be a separate notification like an exclamation mark in the corner, even optional; and it would probably be motivation for them to answer more threads since it means they wouldn't need to be rechecking the subforum as much. :)

Unfortunately, even mods and admins don't get notifications for threads unless we're pinged or subscribed, which every user has the ability to do. If every Helper got a notification every time there was a new help thread, I feel it could cause a lot of confusion and frustration.
It's sad to see it go but I'm exciting to see where you take it! I know it definitely would have been beneficial to have rules and regulations (and also as a brief suggestion, it would have been cool if helpers had the ability to subscribe (get notifications for new threads) in the help forums, so that we were on top of our game!). Regardless I'm excited for the school year to end so I can see if I'll have time again to apply!! 8D

ah well, thanks for letting us know what happened and good luck with the restructuring! i'll definitely keep my eyes peeled for any updates on the helpers, i'd love to be one again!

Tiko The "Helper" role was given to users that took on the job of helping other users learn the ropes, and how to use the site. They answered questions, and directed them to the right places. Their names were given a green color to help other users find them when they needed help.
This restructuring is a good thing! I'm glad that they will be more clear in the future with more defined rules and roles. It always seemed so arbitrary (no offense to former helpers) and as a regular user (who was on a lot) I was never clear on what it was all about, and what the guidelines were.
May I ask what the helper status was?
