Mirim is an example of a class modified for the environment. In her original colony (a jungle one) it became more efficient to produce few large units rather than multiple small ones - the energy efficiency and reduced threat from local predators far outweighed the increased living space requirements.
Mirim has been transferred to R-45-OcD as she is surplus to requirements. Following a few lean years in the jungle it became clear the current population couldn't be supported. Rather than let everyone starve, a number of colony members were transferred away.
Mirim is used to the humidity from her jungle home, but she still can't get her head around living under the ocean. She's most of the time a little dazed and distracted.
