The sight of a new building on the edge of town catches your eye: a large tower where mechanical birds of all colors are fluttering around. Interestingly enough, as you get closer, you can see that some of them are carrying letters and small packages.

Pushing open the door at the base of the tower reveals dozens and dozens of perches, bird toys, nesting boxes, and more. The cacophony of mechanical chirping was surprisingly not as loud as expected, and with a near-silent swoop of wings, a golden mechanical bird comes to land right next to you. She turns her head, making a loud, sharp trill, and a sparrow villager straightens up from whatever he was doing and comes over to you.

"Sorry, sorry! I didn't even hear you come in. What's your name? I'm Nahr, nice to meet you."

"The bird? Oh, this is Paradox!"

Nahr chuckles, rubbing a wing feather along the mechanical bird's head, who chirps happily at the attention.

"Why Paradox? Remember that day a while back where time suddenly snapped backward a day? Well, I'd bred a gold mechanical bird, and was devastated when that happened - the chick hatched bronze that time, not gold."

"And then, out of the blue, Paradox appeared. The very same mechanical bird I'd bred in that day that never was! I was thrilled, as you can tell. Paradox has been incredible. Such a sweet bird."

"Oh, what do I do here? I'm the resident mailman."

The sparrow grins at you.

"It's rather difficult to get mail in and out of an isolated island like this, you know? So we use mechanical birds to get the letters and smaller packages out. Anything bigger than that has to either be carted around by yours truly or go out on the Singing Tide.”

“Yeah, I take packages too sometimes. I mean come on, it’s fun, and a good chance to stretch my wings as well. Plus, people’s happy and grateful faces (most of the time) when they get their delivery? Perfect. Makes my day every time.”

"What are my hobbies? Well, aside from taking care of the birds you mean? Well, snowball fights are the best. I know that's not exactly a hobby, but..,"

Nahr shrugs.

"What can I say, I enjoy it. Same with building igloos, actually. Sora and Southpaw help me out with that - igloos aren't simple snow walls, after all. There's engineering involved in getting every snow block in place."

"Haha, yep! I'm from Tiger Eye Peak. How could you tell?"

"How am I in the heat?"

Nahr makes a face.

"Well, I mean, it's okay, but I definitely wouldn't live in a desert or anything. Sanuye and Kimeya have huge respect from me for being able to cope with that kind of heat. Humid heat is okay, like we get here. But dry heat? Ugh."

A fluttering of wings interrupts your conversation, as a group of bronze and silver birds arrives through one of the many open windows of the tower, coming down to the tables to land, setting down their burdens and looking over at Nahr expectantly.

"Oh, sorry, looks like the mail's come in. I gotta take care of this, but feel free to come back later in the day! The birds love the company."

And with that, Nahr turns and walks over to the table full of birds, giving them soft, gentle pets and treats from a box. It's clear he'll be busy for a while; maybe you should come back later. Who knows, maybe you'll even get to feed the birds a treat or two.
