Walking through Ouroboros, you realize the streets are eerily silent. Shops are closed, lights are off - there's literally nobody here. What happened? The town was lively and bustling not two hours ago; what could have turned it into a ghost town so fast?
That's when you hear it - music, soft and faint at this distance, but still distinct. Following it, you come across the reason why everyone was gone: there's a small rabbit playing in the plaza in the middle of the village, and everyone is present.
The rabbit finishes his song, before getting up from his chair and giving a bow, to much cheering and applause from the villagers. And an entire village cheering at the top of their lungs is loud.
"Alright folks, that's it for today. Remember, I'll be playing again tomorrow before heading off to the mainland!"
Lots of groaning comes after this statement, but the villagers start to disperse, leaving you and the bard alone.
"Oh, hello. Looks like you missed the show, huh? No worries; I'm playing again tomorrow morning before heading off at noon."
"Who am I? Who am I?! Jeez, I've really failed as a musician if you don't even recognize me, huh? I'm Ketu, a wandering bard; nice to meet you, stranger."
You blink. Oh. Ketu. He's rather famous in musical circles, and known for traveling all over Furvilla performing concerts. You've heard about his unusual appearance due to being a rabbit chimera; you've just never seen him before this.
Ketu laughs at whatever expression is on your face.
"I see you at least recognize my name! That makes me feel a little better, haha. All joking aside, though, did you come here to ask me for something? An autograph, maybe?"
Well, since you're here...you pull out a piece of paper and a pen and happily hand them over to Ketu, who signs his name with a flourish.
"There you go! Take care of it, okay?"
"Where am I performing next? Ehh, I think Quetzal Palace? I might stop by Clawtooth on the way, actually. I haven't been there in a while."
"Nope, I don't really have a set schedule or tour. It's not really my thing, you know? I mean, it works for other musicians and that's great, but it's just too confining for my tastes. I don't like being railroaded into things."
"Do I know when I'm going back to Olde Foxbury? I don't know. I mean, it'll be nice to visit my hometown and stuff, but the wind is calling me elsewhere, you know?"
Ketu waves a dismissive paw.
"I'll get there when I get there."
"Anyway, I don't know about you, but I'm starving. And hey, there's a nice little dinner buffet the people here like to throw for celebrations, and I'm honored to attend! There's all kinds of different foods, from more normal stuff like pawpurroni pizzas and torn cheese steak sandwiches to exotic meals like stuffed cow bell peppers and Rotsuoy's savory monster chops. Mmm, stuffed bell peppers..."
"Anyway, I'm off to the buffet; wanna join me? I've got loads of questions about what you've been up to; maybe they'll even inspire me to write a new song! After all, it's the journeys and adventures and all the feelings in between that make for the best ballads."
