Siren was the product of a botched transformation. Partway through, she seemed to suffer a rare allergic reaction once the magic tried to alter the brain to accommodate new limbs. The magic was halted, and as a result, her body was not fully changed, all episodic memory was lost, and she had to relearn how to use all of her limbs.
Siren was not the first to suffer the allergy, though her case was particularly bad. Another sufferer with a milder reaction helped her through the adjustment period. After a time, they came to regard each other as siblings.
