Villager: Ely

Ely is hard at work in her workshop when you approach. There are morphing potions, breeding potions, healing potions, and vials of all kinds of colors. Lots and lots of vials.

"Huh? Me? Oh, sorry. Give me one moment to finish this."

"Alright, I'm good, and that's not going to explode. I haven't seen you around before. Are you visiting?"

"I'm Ely, pleased to meet you. As you can see, I'm an alchemist by trade. I love brewing things, though right now I've got a mass order for dyes. There's a few costumes in our shop that need them, and each one requires a hundred..."

"The shop? Oh, the entire village runs it. Or at least most of us do. Our explorers gather materials from their adventures, while the multitude of warriors here - we really do have a lot - go beat up monsters for others, Aisling and Emmanuel make sure the warriors have the equipment they need, Camellia and Kiara grow reagents for Ronan and I, and then we plus Zale craft what Genesis and Asara need so that they can put them together with the materials gathered into a finished costume. That’s when Kahjah and Brenna take the Singing Tide out to deliver them to our buyers. We're all quite busy, as you can imagine. But that doesn't mean that we don't have our fun too."

"What do I mean by most of the village? Well, not all of us are going out and about the village working. We have our young ones too, or at least the really young ones. The majority of the village is young adults, really, which is interesting. But I'm getting off track. As you can see, we've got people who are too young for careers or haven't fully decided what they want to do yet, Seraphina, who runs the island clinic, Lazarus, who runs the island storehouse, Belphegor, who’s, well, Belphegor, Mateo, who’s on the graveyard watch, Zinnia, a retired warrior from Tiger Eye Peak, Bram, the local librarian and resident grim reaper, and then Sora and Southpaw - I mean, they literally build our houses here, I would think that's kind of important hahaha. And that’s not even counting the multitude of spirits living here as well; they don't have careers so much as inherent duties."

"Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that there's nothing wrong with not directly contributing to the costume making - a healthy town is full of many different people, with different interests and hobbies, and it's not like we kick out those who don't directly contribute to making the village export. That would be beyond stupid; their jobs are just as important to the village as costume making is."

"Ronan? Oh, he’s an alchemist too. Being blind doesn’t hinder him any - you see how all the vials and beakers and such are textured? Between that, his hearing, and his keen sense of smell, and he can do the work just as well as I."

"My pet? Oh, Azeroth's an island turty. Pretty self-sufficient as far as pets go, which is just how I like it. She comes and goes as she pleases."

"You want to know about the rest of my hobbies? Well, I really enjoy puzzles, the bigger the better. There’s also a few TV shows I really enjoy watching. NCIS, the Mandalorian, the works."

"Did you need anything else? No? Well, if you don't mind, I'd like to get back to these potions then. It was nice meeting you!"

"Now, where did I put that forgotten elephant tusk...?"
