This species was originally referred to as the "Rikigari"(Modified Gelian for "Ribbon Warriors") before further xenobiological study revealed it to be a polyphyletic grouping of at least five genetically distinct species. The designation persists due to Rikigari diplomats preferring to be addressed as such.
All species identified as "Rikigari" combine insectoid, avian, and reptilian features in varying frequencies, with the exception of the more genetically distinct Shriagari(Spike Warriors) which possess more mammalian traits. Lacking mouthparts to feed or communicate with, all Rikigari instead possess keenly-developed psionic senses that substitute for these functions. A set of long, feathery tendrils on each Rikigari's head allows it to broadcast its thoughts at will to nearby individuals, allowing for instantaneous and streamlined communication with any sapient being. In addition, the tendrils extending from the sides of a Rikigari's thorax enable it to constantly siphon residual psionic energy from its immediate surroundings, meaning that a Rikigari can sustain itself indefinitely as long as it is in the vicinity of differing species.
While the surface of Gelia is home to ruins indicating the presence of an advanced civilization, current Rikigari activity is almost completely constricted to labyrinthine complexes situated anywhere from one to four miles beneath the surface. These complexes are each run by a central computer, which acts as a repository for psionic information and a general maintenance system.
Like the flamingoes of Terra, Gelian Rikigari are pink due to the algae that they are dependent on for most of their nutrition. However, a rare few are known to display a phenotype mirroring that of albinism, where their bodies cannot absorb the pigment from the algae and their bodies permanently remain a transparent white color. Due to their status as 5-D beings, Rikigari cannot die in the conventional sense; they appear to be immortal to 3-D lifeforms such as Humans and Neogens. Due to his 5-D existence, he is capable of simultaneously existing in the present-day FurVilla matrix, his prism-spire on 5-Gelia-8173 circa 2140, and 120 kilometers shyka of General Uintah's Hydran estate one dimension removed. He has taken the Sand Spirit Tsuki'ta as his disciple at her insistence, despite the fact that she is not a Rikigari nor has she ever been in any timeline.
