Jake the Cat - more commonly known nowadays as "Jacob" - is a cartoon cat from the XX20's, created for the sole purpose to entertain. However, being conscious and sentient within his own ink and paper world, Jacob soon began to grow very, very resentful of his creators for putting him through so much torment and torture just for the sake of a laugh. He didn't understand why he had to be put in pain for others to be amused.
Eventually, it snapped the toon. If he had to be hurt for the creators and everyone else in the "3D world" to laugh, then they would have to hurt for him, who is from the "ink world", to laugh.
Quite literally jumping out of the page one day, Jacob single-handedly killed most of his creators in his fury, leaving only one alive for some unknown reason, and now skulks around outside his old studio at night, luring any unsuspecting passers-by inside with false promises, only to kill them just as swiftly as his creators.
