Silver's personality changes in some aspects throughout his life (first part is current, last is initially):

Silver is known to lie and talk his way out of anything, definitely having a way with words. He is an opportunistic and isn't afraid to manipulate others in doing things that benefits him or his crew. Unlike most pirates, he is a reader and is a very smart guy, and he knows this which is why he tends to clash with others at times. Silver clearly sees himself above others, yet he does have a secret protective side towards his crew and wishes to protect them - even if it endangers himself. Adding to being smart, Silver has an incredible memory. Once he reads, seeings or hears something even once it is rare for him to forget it. He'll remember things about a particular person (appearance, personality, interests) and use that to help him manipulate them.
Silver tends to undermine authority figures due to his dislike of them, believing that they take advantage of their power - something that surprised people upon his rank change not captain. Even prior to being made Captain, Silver was the type to make his own plans behind the former Captain's back and was shown to have leadership qualities. He also is known for being stubborn as well - not always listening to his Captain as well as known for not backing down. He hates feeling weak and likes it when people are actually listening to him. Silver will actually volunteer to go on missions if it means to get back people that have wronged him.

Initially, this silver-tongued pirate was a selfish fox. He only looks after himself and doesn't care what happens to others. Not hesitating to lie to others, he was aware that his lies could get people killed, but he did not care as long as he lived. Though some time after joining the pirates, he sub-consciously formed a protective and even caring feeling towards the crew, which still show today.

Silver grew up the eldest out of four siblings and honed his natural leadership skills while watching over them as their parents worked most of the day. He cared for his siblings as though he were there father and did his best to make up for their parents' absence most of the time. One day, there was a accident that took both of their parents lives, which shook the family to it's core. Silver was unable to deal with his emotions over their parents' deaths and having to take care of his three younger siblings truly by himself. This caused him to emotionally break down, he waited until they found a little sub-village run by Empyrean, then fled away during the night.

He lived on his own for a couple months until he joined a groups of merchants who traveled the seas to sell their goods. One day while on a voyage, a pirate crew attacked and took all of the goods. While the drew argued about what to do with their prisoners, Silver approached them and was able to use his wits and charisma to convince them to take the goods and let everyone go. Dazzled by the money and power a pirate can get, he showed interest in joining and was offered by the captain.

For a few years Silver served quietly and impatiently, though he did enjoy his time wit the crew despite his lower ranks, and he continued to move up in ranks. Silver even came to view his captain as a father figure. He eventually became quartermaster, a rank that he was actually pleased with. and faithfully served at his captains side. Together they were unstoppable and extremely powerful. It didn't take much time for Silver to realize that if he tried, he could easily gain the favor of the crew and other throw the captain - something his captain was always aware of - though Silver cared much for him and never made such a move. After some time, the captain was drowned during an attack from a rival pirate ship and left the crew without a captain, leading them to turn to Silver.

After becoming captain, he started to visit his siblings every now and then, finally strong enough to face them. Though it did take some time, they eventually came to forgive Silver - Vishnu had it the toughest time since the twins were quite young when he left. He has since made sure to keep up his visit and see them as much as he can, though it isn't as much as everyone would like since Silver is still so busy with being a captain.

During an attack on a slave ship and freeing slaves, Silver met a young kit who had nowhere to go - his family had sold off to slavery since he was the youngest and weakest of the family and provided the least. Silver remembered when he felt alone and joined the pirate crew after the captain took him in, so he ended up taking in the kit as well. He helped the kit form a new name since he wanted to move on from his past, and his name became Atramentous for his black fur. Silver started to raise Atram like he did with his siblings years ago and considered the younger fox as a younger brother. Though Atramentous acts nothing like Silver did when he joined - showing no ambition for rank as captain and far from manipulative - the two still shared deep similarities.
