Villager: Moon

A dark and mysterious entity that appears from time to time.  He does not remember who or what he might have been in his past life, but he suspects he was human and carries vivid memories of constant fatigue and exhaustion, likely from overworking himself just to make ends meet. He speculates that the aforementioned were strong factors in his previous self’s death and eventual reincarnation as a Scarfox, but ultimately isn't sure.  Realizing that his new form was built for comfort and slumber, he believes his new life is a chance to finally rest his weary soul and ensure that others do not meet the same fate as he once did.  Though he is soft and kind hearted, and wants to help others find peace, his resting grump face and glowing ringed eyes, combined with his penchant for traveling in the dark by the dim light of the moon, often gives those he visits a scare.  He can be blunt at times as well, with a short manner of speaking and a semi-quick temper that often give the impression that he’s cold or uncaring, or even impatient and irritable.  However, those who take the time to acquaint themselves with him will soon see a much softer side, and those who manage to gain his trust or friendship will gain a loyal and reliable friend who can be counted on in a time of need.

He wanders the lands in search of other Scarfoxes who are weary, plagued by bad dreams, or simply struggling with insomnia, and is gifted with light-element magic allowing him to induce dreamlike illusions for others.  His magic takes on the visual appearance of sparkling, silver dust, and the illusions he creates are made of the same visual effect once he's brought an individual under his spell.  These illusions have a side effect, captivating their target and lulling them into a deeply relaxed and almost sleep-like state.  The sleep-like state is always temporary, and the individual will rouse from it without any help or external forces.  As a result, he’s gained a reputation as a sort of “sandman,” one who can put others to rest and manipulate their dreams.  He knows that this isn’t true, but he doesn’t seem bothered by the fantastical claims and lets people think what they want about him.

Where he’s vulnerable to his own magic and still carries the weariness he had in his past life, he can often be found asleep in random spots periodically and others have labeled him as “narcoleptic” as a result.  As such, you’ll often find him carrying a pillow on his travels.  This pillow contains a wisp made of his own mist, which can also induce his illusory magic.  Contact with the pillow will immediately put the individual into the dreamlike state, but if the individual remains in contact through the duration of the effects, they will be immune to the magic's effects a second time until the contact is broken and re-established.  Because of this, he's usually very adamant about staying in contact with his pillow, and is often seen hugging it to his body or holding it under his arm.  He usually manages to make it to a safe spot to rest, but occasionally he can be found slumped over a fence or sticking out of the bushes.  It's become a game for some to see if they can catch him sleeping in weird places or positions.

Unlike a typical Scarfox, Moon's left ear is oddly devoid of any mist to keep it upright. This, combined with the slightly longer length of said ear, makes him somewhat self-conscious about his appearance, so he tends to hide his lop ear with a sleeping cap that matches his blanket-like arms.



During his travels, it would seem that he's become close to another Scarfox, and the two often travel around together at present.  They share a love of the night sky and can often be found stargazing together in the field on a clear night, and both have been known to seek the other out when they're feeling down or are in need of comfort.
