In olden times, the woods were left alone for fear of angering the nature spirit and her envoy that lived in it. But times change and the years move on, the tales of old are forgotten.
Eventually the woods were cut away. Buildings and skyscrapers took hold where trees once were. Over the years mysterious deaths at the hands of wild plants have started rising in numbers. One story stays consistent from the victims before they die; they report seeing a horned, smokey wolf-like creature staring them down. Some believe it is the vengeful nature spirit from old folklore, some believe it is the spirit's envoy choosing victims, but most dismiss these sightings as fearful delusions.
If only they knew the Will-o-the-Thorns was trying to warn them of just how far its previous master had fallen.
