Come now, this is no witchcraft, this nothing more than a specialized echinoderm! Related to sand dollars, sea urchins, sea cucumbers and starfish, the Common Foureye is an anchored carnivore much like a barnacle or a sea anemone.
The Foureye generally stays anchored to one spot using its strong feet, but they can move around if the need arises (albeit very slowly). They cannot filter feed like your classic anemone due to their size, so they rely on releasing sweet smells into the water to attract marine life to come to them. Once the creature is close enough, the Foureye will spray toxic chemicals into the water around it to kill whatever animal comes close (only the Foureye is immune to these chemicals). Once the prey is dead, the Foureye will start to suck in the water around it until it lands in the mouth between its four namesake "eyes". Once the Foureye is digesting, it may not need food for another week thanks to a slow metabolism.
Speaking of 'eyes', that's exactly what those big bulbs on the end of the tentacles are- eyes. Starfish have eye spots on the ends of their tentacles, which they use to see very basic images. The Foureye also has eyes, much better developed than the spots of its echinoderm cousins.
So why are we fighting them? Well, like starfish, they probably reproduce very quickly and can quickly take over a reef. Like a sea apple, the Foureye probably spits out noxious chemicals when hunting or threatened, so it's in the best interests of Oceandome warriors to cull their numbers, lest they cause damage to local fish schools and the native environment.
