"It has always been said that the barghest is an omen of misfortune because they appear in times of tragedy, but that is far from the truth. Barghests adopt towns, families or individuals as their charge, watching over and protecting them in time of great need... (Bone barghest) are barghest whose charge or charges have passed from this world. Patches of their fur turn grey or lose pigment in the shape of bones as they age. They make their homes near the burial places of those they vowed to protect, making sure harm does not befall their remains."
