About

A tribute.

Earlier the other day, I noticed a moth lightly fluttering around at my feet. It was weak, barely able to keep itself off the ground for a few seconds. So I gently held out my hand, and it fluttered on. I decided we were going to have an adventure, one last trip before the poor thing couldn't hold on anymore.

And so off we went. We rode on a bus, avoided strange looks from strangers, and all the while it stood on my palm, sometimes gently quivering.

And then it trembled, and gave way. It died in my hands. The tiniest moth you've ever seen, resting in my palm. And it blew away in the wind, I bid it farewell.

It made me think of how fragile we all are, so small. Here one second, gone the next.
Life is short, it can disappear so quickly. Please don't waste it. <3

    • events like you describe really put our fragility and mortality into perspective. closest iv'e done to this was picking up a stunned columbia silk moth while my dog tried to eat it. stuck it in an empty birdcage out of the sun until it recovered and started trying to escape. then off it went to go do silk moth things

    • Your story really touched me. I thought you might like to hear mine.
When I was living in a shared house I never got particularly close to any of my housemates, but once I had a day off the same day as one of them. I'm not massively into sport, but we actually had a lot of fun watching Wimbledon.
We found a scarlet tiger moth lyinging on the kitchen floor and decided to rescue them. It looked very weak
We put them in the sun and fed them sugar water on a cotton bud. Eventually they perked up and we took them down the road to a garden which had the type of flowers they needed to survive.
It was a real bonding experience both having a vested interest in saving this little life together.

    • This feels inducing sweetie made the front page on random painties<3

    • *sigh, sniff*
The message is clear. You are worthy of love! Precious hugs.

    • that he did. He slept curled up in my hand close to me so he would stay warm this was the fall months so it stayed chilly in my room. My family thought I was crazy but If something is alive I'm gonna give it a fighting chance. I'm glad you did what you did with that little moth glad to know i'm not the only one who cares for such things.

    • Yes I suppose I do v-v I saved a baby mouse from my savage cats one time kept him alive for two weeks but he passed away. It kills me I named him Toby and he was my tiny buddy. We did everything together even though my cats weren't happy.

    • I'm sorry but I didn't get my permission slip signed for this feels trip
