About
You're trekking through a seemingly endless forest, a feeling of unease beginning to creep over you. It's starting to get dark, though it was hardly past noon when you stepped into this shadowy place.
Shouldn't you be on the other side by now?
A shiver travels down your spine.
You're not alone
You turn around in a frantic circle, but as soon as you're back in your original position, something rustles in the brush behind you.
You really should have listened to all the legends of this forest.
The fables of countless lost souls who ventured into this cursed place, never to return.
It looks like you'll be next to join them.
The something behind you rustles again.
You shut your eyes tight, awaiting your inevitable fate.
The rustling grows louder.
"Hiya!" a definitely not ghostly voice cries.
"Huh? What's wrong?"
You hesitantly crack an eye open, only to find a very much alive wolf looking watching you, worry in her wide eyes.
"Oh no, you're not one of those explorers who think this place is haunted are ya? You look like you've seen a ghost!"
You laugh nervously, a paw rubbing the back of your neck. Maybe you let your imagination get the best of you. Just a little.
"No worries," the young lupine laughs, "These woods are strange for sure, but you won't find any 'a that spooky stuff. Here," she takes your paw with a wink, "I'll help ya find yer way out."
"The key is to always look up," she points with her free paw at the now dark sky.
"The north star is always there for you."
Before you know it, you're out of the mysterious forest, safe and sound and very much alive.
You thank the wolf and ask her name.
"Polaris," she grins, shaking your paw before disappearing back into the brush.
Polaris?
Like...?
You look up.
And despite it being the middle of the day, you see the north star seeming to wink down at you.
