Chizuku is a sly Kitsune who had arrived in Saibon mysteriously in the dead of night.
When he had first arrived, he had his mind set on stealing. Quietly, he had entered all of Saibon's villager homes, took one thing that looked the most valuable, and left. Although, he failed to complete his heist..
Once moving around Shirako's room, Shirako, who was actually awake, had yelled, causing him to run off. He was then stopped by Kami, who lives outside Saibon. The rest of the villagers were awoken by the clamor, and came outside only to see most of their items taken and scattered on the ground.
Knowing how powerful he was as a Kitsune, he thought he could just use his flame to get his way. But, seeing how mighty Kami was, and his higher-god status, that would not go well.
Chizuku, now out of luck, jokingly said he was just "borrowing" them. And with that, he got punished by the leader of Saibon, Kotoma. His punishment required fixing damaged houses, repairing old lanterns and relighting them, removing bothersome rocks to plant flowers, battling huge monsters on Quetzal Palace's edge with no help, repainting on worn houses and signs, doing everyone's exploring, crafting and blacksmith jobs, apologizing 100 times to everyone who he had stolen from, and lastly, writing "i'm sorry" 100 times on a scroll, with a paintbrush and ink.
During all of this, the villagers of Saibon had made him a small house with a bed, for when the day ends and he needs somewhere to rest his head. The house was not as mighty looking or big as the current houses in Saibon, but Chizuku took it with joy. He loved his little house and once he wasn't working, decorated it with paints, silks, lanterns and fabrics.
Chizuku was given food, shelter, and although all the villagers kinda hated him, he was still talked to. At one point of time, they even allowed him to sit at the dinner table with them. He had a lot of fun that day.
Weeks passed with Chizuku still working, when Kotoma decided that he has done enough for the village, and he was forgiven. He was to leave now. Silently protesting, as he loved his home, the food, and the company, he left with a sad nod. Although...
The very next night he returned, sitting in his little home, eating rice.
He was told once again by Kotoma that his job was done and he must go. Chizuku protested with an open mind, saying that he's never had an experience like this. He's never had a home before, he's never had this much food to eat, he's never interacted with anyone positively because of what he does, stealing, but then again, him stealing was so he could feed himself. He was homeless and had nowhere else to go, and didn't have intentions on going back to his old lifestyle. He wanted to stay with the villagers of Saibon.
Kotoma thought very hard on this matter, and invited other villagers for their thoughts on it. In the end, the result was Chizuku was able to stay, although he must take up a job like all the others, and never, ever attempt to steal again, from them or anyone else. If such were to happen, he would be exiled.
Filled with joy and agreeing to the rules, Chizuku is now a proud member of Saibon. His house was upgraded and much bigger now, and although one can tell how off-put some are by him, he's making friends. He's still a tricky, jokester Kitsune, but others will warm up to him, slowly.
