Once a physician, and once a rabbit, Cloud was forced into an early retirement for perhaps the best of reasons: a simple lack of need for his services among the members of his village. An experimental treatment by another doctor in the village appears to have given most folks an incredible boost to their general health, and an unbelievably rapid recovery time when folks do become ill.
With all his hours suddenly freed up, Cloud finally had the time and inclination to spend all that money he earned pursuing a dream or two, or three.
Other relevant facts about Cloud: He moved to Quetzal Palace partly because he liked the place, but also because he knew it would be pretty inconvenient for his family to make it up there. He and his family of origin are not on good terms.
Soon after moving, he met his eventual partner, Spectra.
