Life as a country mouse can get slow, real fast (especially when you're the fifth daughter of the family, and your eldest brother has long vanished to go become a traveling warrior.). That might have been why Elise found herself dreaming of pirates and deep oceans, icy peaks and spooky manors.
But while she dreamed of such adventure daily, she also had a passion. Being the middle child left her surrounded by those old enough to get into trouble, and those young enough to get hurt trying to emulate them.
Elise was a dang good doctor. Knowing this, and that this could be her ticket into the world, Elise spent all her time studying to hone her craft, vowing to be the one people like her brother could go to to patch themselves up. Stopping gill rot and seasickness, and all manner of other diseases, so villagers could be as productive as possible.
