Don't stress out too much! Cosplay is meant to be fun :3!

Mango Sirene on youtube has some nice cosplay guides / tips, heres one to get you an idea about her! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8CCODasD44
I know that feeling abt the hair and money... I'll try and dig up some resources for you ASAP!
I'm in the same boat as you, I have SUPER thick hair
one thing that really helps is lots of bobby pins or braiding it + pinning it down (a short summer cut helps too!) as long as u do that and have a wig cap it should be ok!
Arda Wigs is kinda pricey, but they are VERY good quality
Epicosplaywigs doesn't have as much variety as arda, but are still very good quality + If I remember correctly are heat resistant so they can be styled with curling irons
Amazon is a tossup, sometimes you can get really good wigs for a good price, the number one thing to remember is to read the reviews, and make sure they're not fake (no icon , generic name, close date range to other reviews, + no pictures of product 99% = fake reviewer or a bot)
I have never really made horns, but if you go with a wig (which believe me is MUCH better than temp hair dye) this tutorial is really helpful on how to have the horns on a headband but the band not visible on the wig! http://mangoeclipse.tumblr.com/post/65297711285/thebuttlord
Kanaya has black sleeves O-O ?
#mandela effect
Even if you don't cosplay conventions are always fun! (and tbh lots of people go with just the shirt and a wig + the rest just comfy clothes, like tbh If get around to washing and restyling my Roxy wig i think sunday at the con im just gonna war the wig + void hoodie if i buy it + flower headband)
The big thing tho is definitely have patterns, trying to make clothing without patterns is super hard!
*Also idk how bad your eyesight is (I wear glasses too) so usually yeah, I just squint at the con and bring aspirin bc I get headaches after a while... hopefully I can get contacts soon
Do you want to do a regular Kanaya? Because if you do you can buy a plain black t-shirt (Gildan is the brand that We love fine + Topatoco uses, and u can get them at stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby for 5-6$ I think and they're very comfy) + fabric paint without having to sew anything for her shirt, a red long sleve undershirt would probs work, or just make arm sleeves with no chest piece and stitch / pin them on the inside of the shirt sleeve
The skirt could be a little tricky! Your best bet is to look at patterns in terms of style you'd like to emulate, and then buy the pattern from walmart (they usually run around 10-9$, but they come with the pattern paper for multiple sizes, plus they can be used over and over) and modify it a bit from there if you'd like to have cuts in the fabric or something snazzy! idk how to do buttons ;;;w I'll have to look that up
