Yeah, I really don't either. Chances are you'll either have to reset and hope for the best or take it into a tech shop and see if they can do anything..
Hmm, If it's preinstalled on the phone I'd be hesitant too. Do you have a google account you can back them up on at all, could you transfer them to another device, etc?
