New Species and Rules Revamp
Posted by Mat on 28 Jul 2016, 6:30 pm
Good evening villagers, we are happy to announce that Olde Foxbury now has its own rare species, the Saggitari! This taurian species fits in perfectly with the atmosphere of Olde Foxbury, and comes in three initial colors: Giraffe, Quagga, and Okapi.
Second, our staff has gotten together to discuss and completely revamp the Rules pages. We have condensed the three rules pages (Code of Conduct, Forum, and Chat) into one single rules page, which is linked from the Terms of Service. As the game has been open for three weeks, we have gotten an idea of what rules are necessary to keep it functioning smoothly, and have made adjustments accordingly.
Following our rules update, we will be closing our forums for approximately twenty-four hours for clean-up (but we will likely re-open them sooner). One issue we have been tackling is the sheer amount of spam that has hit our forums, and as soon as the clean-up of spam is complete we will re-open the forums for everyone to enjoy. The chatrooms will remain open if you would like to contact other players, and our moderators will be diligently watching the channels.
Have a great evening!

Sort by last modified and it should be either first or last (depending on direction you have it sorted)
Would anyone know where to get the base for the Saggitari? :0
Regarding the "English Only" rule; Assuming the volunteer mods run strict 4 hour shifts 7 days a week, you'd need at minimum 6 mods spread out over enough timezones of each non-English language to have 24-hour moderation of that language. That's 6 mods at absolute minimum to barely cover each language the site wants to support in addition to English, and right now the scale of the site cannot feasibly support that for the small number of non-English speakers. It's probably worth re-evaluating in the future if the site blows up, but not right now.
I see people complaining about not discussing moderation in public and mentioned that they were never on any site that had that, and all I can think of is, what sites have you been on? Nearly every single site, especially with forums, I have been on has had some rule that states 'do not discuss moderator action(s) in public'.
All in all, looking through the rules I think they are as fair as they can be. While I would love a forum where you COULD hold robust debates etc... I have found, from many different sites, that it is extremely difficult if not impossible to have them. In one debate forum I was on, there was always someone dismissing people's opinions and trying to make it like a debate class where you had to have 100 different sources for every statement you made. Others simply devolved into someone coming in and attacking those with opinions different than them, then others either jumping that user or defending said user.

but the issue with public discussions about politics, religion, and other hot topics is that they always lead to heated debates, which always devolve to some form of attacking. it's incredibly difficult to moderate this in order to ensure a civil atmosphere, and it's just not worth it simply because there are other websites you can have these discussions on.
