Rule Clarifications and MOD Updates
Posted by Mat on 12 Jul 2016, 12:26 pm
We have been consolidating and reviewing a lot of feedback on various rules we have, and are happy to announce that all of the updated rules have been released.
1. The Terms of Service no longer forbids breasts, but instead focuses entirely on nipple exposure. Breasts are now allowed on Painties as well as artwork posted on Furvilla provided they follow the nipple rule. We feel this best represents a SFW environment while also not implying sexualization of people with that body shape.
2. The Terms of Service clarify our position on game asset trading with other browser games. The short answer is, we are fine with trading, however, we would like you to wait until the game is out of beta before doing so.
3. The Code of Conduct now indicates that CSS should not be used to cover or alter game stat information, including hiding or altering your or your villager's stats, or replacing your villager's image with CSS.
4. Our Forum Rules have now been updated to indicate that the phrase 'illegal drugs' refers to United States federal law, as there are discrepancies between the laws of different countries regarding what is an illegal drug, as well as individual states within the US.
5. Finally, after taking in all feedback with Painties and speaking with our Paintie moderators, we have completely revamped the Painties rule page in a way we hope clarifies everything regarding Paintie rules. We have been struggling with the inventive ways that players are creating some Painties, but unfortunately some are created in ways we did not intend for our bases to be used. We hope that this guide clarifies what we consider permissible for the use of our bases and helps clear confusion.
That now covers all the rules that have been changed thanks to your feedback. We also wanted to let you know that moderator applications are now closed. We received over a thousand applications and have hired our team. We do not yet have an ETA on releasing the forums as the moderators are occupied with ironing out issues with Painties. We will provide you an update when we have an idea of when the forums will be ready to re-release.
Last, here are a list of changes that have been implemented since Monday, the majority of them from suggestions e-mailed to us:
- grayed out Change Career button when idle
- destroy unwanted recipes from career page
- removed white gradient on long Private Messages
- Transfer Currency / Transfer Item on user page
- horizontal scrollbar appear in the message box when needed
- view all recipes/their reagents for reference: searching items in the museum now provides a list of reagents (for recipes), or a link to the recipe that crafts the item, or links to all recipes that use the item
- placed a button in the blacksmith career page that straight away takes you to repair requests
- Villagers page indicates which villagers are sick and with what
- item pages now include links to NPC shops if the item stocks there
- Paintie Removal button to strip a Paintie from a villager at the user's request
- the following items can now be used from the inventory on villagers who are not the active villager: medicines, pets, recipes, costumes, species potions, hp potions
Xylichio Thank you, that's very nice of you but for now I'm okay. :) I have one weapon from Tigereye, the tusk sword, that I bought for fc in the stalls. Maybe in the future I'll give you a poke about buying from you.
Xylichio Ah no, that was a while back before they altered the repair times for blacksmiths and carpenters. Now it's 40 to 60 minutes depending on the weapon/shield. ^^
On a sidenote, only 100 more tokens till I can finally craft a helmet! Although it's so hard to not just use them on costumes :w: I'm still looking for someone to costume swap with because I want a mythic one.
Quagthistle , yeah, that's what I said earlier too, I'd rather 'waste' durability points on shields and weapons occasionally for enemies I can't one-shot with my element than having to play the switch game every few battles XD It just interrupts the flow so much, and given how grindy the lootsystem is, it just makes being a warrior even less fun.
And that's not even taking into account the Protection Factor, which was (thankfully) turned off very soon after the beta started. Because that made being a warrior even less attractive. Protection Factor of 0 + sick warrior was grinding hell XD
Xylichio I was in the warrior career solely for the drops so I could eventually make a costume. I quickly found that the weapons and armor for my village were kind of...Well, not good. While I do agree it was unfair with the damage stacking before and I was abusing the system a bit by only using my weak starter weapon and getting all the damage, now if I want to continue on I'd have to use more steel than I make in the warrior career and both my explorer's careers put together just to repair the items I can't make myself without items from other villages that I can't get unless other warriors keep killing monsters and then using their blacksmiths to craft them. And why should they, since again, it's costing more at this point to maintain it than you're getting back?
I can understand the idea behind the update but the effect is that the career is now unprofitable, and considering it's supposed to be a basic level job, the fact you can't really make any money from it is a bit ridiculous. I didn't intend to rant here as well but well. Sometimes an issue merits a little ranting.
The site certainly is still in beta so I'm not furious or anything, just...A bit peeved. I'm hoping that they implement some of the lovely suggestions already put forth, such as a leveling system for warriors, making us naturally do a bit more damage over time, and making our enemies more difficult in return, making it so we only do damage with the weapon we hit with, etc. I'd be down for that. Just. Not another update like this, I hope.
There's a workaround for this epic nerf, but it's convoluted and not at all fun:
- Start battle with 1 weapon and your shield equipted.
- See what kind of monster you are facing (element and strength).
- Click outside the battle window to make it close.
- Unequip your weapon.
- Equip one that is the right element and strength for the battle
- Initiate battle once again to continue the fight with the monster you saw previously.
- Beat it with your preferred weapon and get the loot.
How this is supposed to be more fun than spamming through for the RIDICULOUS number of drops they make us collect to make things, I'll never know, but that's what you have to do each ever time now. Angry warriors have EVERY right to be angry!
Xylichio Actually I recall a time where my Spidershield took over 10 hours to restore 50 durability points. So in that sense, blacksmithing has improved a lot! But I think the complaint isn't so much that you have to repair weapons more now but that you have to repair more weapons now, with the synchronized durability point decrease. My blacksmith's always been busy with my three warriors, repairing and increasing his skill. :D (For a short and sweet time you could craft while repairing but you no longer can so I guess this wasn't intentional.) I made a second blacksmith not too long ago and now I'm glad I did XD
Mutiny Well your name game is certainly on point for this occasion, haha! The Warrior sea just keeps getting saltier.
I wish I would have realized this change sooner than I did, but luckily I caught on before any of my weapons broke. Sigh. Disgruntled warriors unite. :P
Guess I'll join in with everyone and go back to animal husbandry where I can stare at all my common pets that refuse to be domesticated. :P
I have errands to run today but yes, I am firmly in the disgruntled camp. If anything changes, can someone please poke me on my profile or send me a message? I am just blown away.
Disgruntled Warriors unite! Yeah, kind of a pain when the payoff isn't where is should be. I had to switch over one of my villagers to Blacksmith just so I could repair more things....Considering changing another one too since the Animal Husbandry career I've just been using as a time waster...I have awful luck with that thing.
And I was just working on getting the remaining tokens I needed for a Beast costume for a friend, haha..
