Rule Clarifications and MOD Updates

We have been consolidating and reviewing a lot of feedback on various rules we have, and are happy to announce that all of the updated rules have been released.

1. The Terms of Service no longer forbids breasts, but instead focuses entirely on nipple exposure. Breasts are now allowed on Painties as well as artwork posted on Furvilla provided they follow the nipple rule. We feel this best represents a SFW environment while also not implying sexualization of people with that body shape.

2. The Terms of Service clarify our position on game asset trading with other browser games. The short answer is, we are fine with trading, however, we would like you to wait until the game is out of beta before doing so.

3. The Code of Conduct now indicates that CSS should not be used to cover or alter game stat information, including hiding or altering your or your villager's stats, or replacing your villager's image with CSS.

4. Our Forum Rules have now been updated to indicate that the phrase 'illegal drugs' refers to United States federal law, as there are discrepancies between the laws of different countries regarding what is an illegal drug, as well as individual states within the US.

5. Finally, after taking in all feedback with Painties and speaking with our Paintie moderators, we have completely revamped the Painties rule page in a way we hope clarifies everything regarding Paintie rules. We have been struggling with the inventive ways that players are creating some Painties, but unfortunately some are created in ways we did not intend for our bases to be used. We hope that this guide clarifies what we consider permissible for the use of our bases and helps clear confusion.

That now covers all the rules that have been changed thanks to your feedback. We also wanted to let you know that moderator applications are now closed. We received over a thousand applications and have hired our team. We do not yet have an ETA on releasing the forums as the moderators are occupied with ironing out issues with Painties. We will provide you an update when we have an idea of when the forums will be ready to re-release.

Last, here are a list of changes that have been implemented since Monday, the majority of them from suggestions e-mailed to us:
- grayed out Change Career button when idle
- destroy unwanted recipes from career page
- removed white gradient on long Private Messages
- Transfer Currency / Transfer Item on user page
- horizontal scrollbar appear in the message box when needed
- view all recipes/their reagents for reference: searching items in the museum now provides a list of reagents (for recipes), or a link to the recipe that crafts the item, or links to all recipes that use the item
- placed a button in the blacksmith career page that straight away takes you to repair requests
- Villagers page indicates which villagers are sick and with what
- item pages now include links to NPC shops if the item stocks there
- Paintie Removal button to strip a Paintie from a villager at the user's request
- the following items can now be used from the inventory on villagers who are not the active villager: medicines, pets, recipes, costumes, species potions, hp potions

    • Mimaah Yeah, like...all in all I love this site and the direction it's going, but this puts a serious damper on my feelings about the site, and I know I'm not alone. At first, I thought it made sense, the rules, but once the costume bug got fixed, it became apparent that the mods are really, really not fair about what they accept and what they reject. I feel like a whiny brat, but...dang.

    • It is the Narwhal Spear that got boosted, yes. Wow. That weapon just got loads better. But it very much is a "use and throw out" weapon with the new prices, now. XD

Also, I gave my doctor a 4th profession as a blacksmith, and bought all the schemas to see them. For science!
I've filled in site sell back value or shop price value next to each ingredient. And bought up a bunch of coral and oceanic gem, so I'm sure not to run out soon! XD

      Coral Shield:
      15 x coral (300 FC)
      15 x oceanic gem (300 FC)
      100 FC
Total material cost: 700 FC (down from 2100 FC)

      Shell Shield:
      1 x barnacles (100 FC)
      5 x conch (250 FC)
      15 x oceanic gem (300 FC)
      15 x coral (300 FC)
      250 FC
Total material cost: 1200 FC (down from 2800 FC)

      Shark Tooth Spear:
      1 x Coral Spear Shaft (100 FC)
      15 x Shark Tooth (300 FC)
      100 FC
Total material cost: 500 FC (down from 3600 FC - Seriously, how was this ever more expensive than the Narwhal Horn?!?)

      Narwhal Spear:
      1 x coral spear shaft (100 FC)
      5 x narwhal horn (250 FC)
      15 x coral (300 FC)
      15 x oceanic gem (300 FC)
      250 FC
Total material cost: 1200 FC (down from 2800 FC)

      Underwater Helmet:
      Same as before
      500 x Sand Dollar (10000 FC)
      10 x Sawfish Jaw (1000 FC)
      5 x Underwater Skull (500 FC)
      1000 FC
      Total cost: 12500 FC

    • It would be easier if we had had forums back up for everyone to share their rejection stories, haha. @Exodrake has an OC species where only the females have horns, and they had to genderbend one of their characters because the paintie reviewer said "please put the horns back on so we can see it's a dragon" or something.

    • Kijame "Each costume has an individual pose per villager type so from that pose alone it should be evident what the costumed villager originally was" Nope, mods are blind, and a lot of people seem to as well. Pose was evidently Sorcerer yet I had many mods and tumblr people against me for it "not being recognizable" even though it was??

The last message from the mod I contacted was to put the original cat ears on and then it will get passed, so RIP OC I was trying to make.

    • Kijame That's what I'm wondering. She's not a cat, why does she have to cosplay as one? I'm legitimately upset about this. Species changes are explicitly allowed in the paintie rules provided the target species doesn't exist (and doubly so in this case, as only six species can even wear costumes), and I myself have a raven under that rule, so...I'm frustrated. Her pose matches exactly save for the cat parts and the addition of a small Verne perched on her finger (since the OC in question is Verne the OC's adopted mom).

    • Kijame do you know any more examples of people's stuff getting rejected? I've seen a lot of stories of rejections where people can't help it and are unable to make their OCs/Sonas because of these 'rules'. The mods definitely seem more strict on painties, I don't know if you saw my struggle, had to reduce my OC to an orange cat just to pass it... After 5 iterations. If enough people are suffering, it's worth gathering and doing something about it. Most edits being rejected are simple base edits, yet there are stuff getting through that's just... how-? but yeah, it's really annoying that the mods are biased and it should be pointed out.

    • Why would you need to put those parts back on? Each costume has an individual pose per villager type so from that pose alone it should be evident what the costumed villager originally was XD

    • Kijame Yeah, I keep resubmitting it. I was told I had to put the cat ears and tail back on the base, but ??? My raven and hippocampus both heavily edit the bases they're on far more than the one that keeps getting rejected. Never mind that lovely fox that everyone's seen, no doubt--gorgeous paintie, but HEAVILY edited in every way, not to throw the artist under the bus. I love that paintie, but this doesn't feel fair.

I really hate complaining like this but I feel like it's all I can do at this point...

    • Verne I think paintie standards seem to vary by mod. I've seen a velociraptor with more reptilian eyes and feathers removed getting rejected for not matching the base (even though it was visibly clear to be a velo) and an otter that's clothed also rejected for not matching the otter base.

And then you have painties where you wouldn't know what the base was if the villager info didn't say so approved, haha. I guess art is just super subjective even when you get trained on the matter? Just keep resubmitting and hope for approval, you can do it!

    • I'm loving all this rebalancing. The site's becoming more and more playable by the hour. :)
