Rule Clarifications and MOD Updates
Posted by Mat on 12 Jul 2016, 12:26 pm
We have been consolidating and reviewing a lot of feedback on various rules we have, and are happy to announce that all of the updated rules have been released.
1. The Terms of Service no longer forbids breasts, but instead focuses entirely on nipple exposure. Breasts are now allowed on Painties as well as artwork posted on Furvilla provided they follow the nipple rule. We feel this best represents a SFW environment while also not implying sexualization of people with that body shape.
2. The Terms of Service clarify our position on game asset trading with other browser games. The short answer is, we are fine with trading, however, we would like you to wait until the game is out of beta before doing so.
3. The Code of Conduct now indicates that CSS should not be used to cover or alter game stat information, including hiding or altering your or your villager's stats, or replacing your villager's image with CSS.
4. Our Forum Rules have now been updated to indicate that the phrase 'illegal drugs' refers to United States federal law, as there are discrepancies between the laws of different countries regarding what is an illegal drug, as well as individual states within the US.
5. Finally, after taking in all feedback with Painties and speaking with our Paintie moderators, we have completely revamped the Painties rule page in a way we hope clarifies everything regarding Paintie rules. We have been struggling with the inventive ways that players are creating some Painties, but unfortunately some are created in ways we did not intend for our bases to be used. We hope that this guide clarifies what we consider permissible for the use of our bases and helps clear confusion.
That now covers all the rules that have been changed thanks to your feedback. We also wanted to let you know that moderator applications are now closed. We received over a thousand applications and have hired our team. We do not yet have an ETA on releasing the forums as the moderators are occupied with ironing out issues with Painties. We will provide you an update when we have an idea of when the forums will be ready to re-release.
Last, here are a list of changes that have been implemented since Monday, the majority of them from suggestions e-mailed to us:
- grayed out Change Career button when idle
- destroy unwanted recipes from career page
- removed white gradient on long Private Messages
- Transfer Currency / Transfer Item on user page
- horizontal scrollbar appear in the message box when needed
- view all recipes/their reagents for reference: searching items in the museum now provides a list of reagents (for recipes), or a link to the recipe that crafts the item, or links to all recipes that use the item
- placed a button in the blacksmith career page that straight away takes you to repair requests
- Villagers page indicates which villagers are sick and with what
- item pages now include links to NPC shops if the item stocks there
- Paintie Removal button to strip a Paintie from a villager at the user's request
- the following items can now be used from the inventory on villagers who are not the active villager: medicines, pets, recipes, costumes, species potions, hp potions
Catnip This this this x1000. I would be 100% okay with the rule if it was something like this. The general, broad rule it is now is not okay.

What we're saying is we'd like to use the style of the wing. Even if we redraw it, it would be the same thing. Are you saying if someone edited the horse hoof to be lowered, then it wouldn't be a horse hoof anymore? Even if we "rewdrew it", it could be allowed because it's not facing the original way it was and the elbow is now extended, is what you're saying? I don't understand your viewpoint, I apologize.
Azzie Cool, but not everyone can mimic the Furvilla style like that and if you're going to be redrawing the DAD wings entirely, then you aren't really drawing DAD wings, then.
Spiritburn But I'm not completely sure either. I'd like some clarification on that from a mod?
Azzie
Again, if the wings are very similar, the staff can't tell if they are copied and edited or if they were done from scratch.
Slightly different position: that can be done with edits to the actual wings.
Slightly different size and angle? Can be done via edits to the DaD wings.
So even if what you say is true, if the artist is good enough, the staff will be forced to reject because they can't tell that it's not an edit of the restricted species.
I'm a bit on the fence on the paintie rule about rare species parts. I think the rule should be that you can use parts from every species, however, you need to make sure they only borrow parts that will make a subtle change and not make your, lets say, cat villager look like a manokit or a wickerbeast.
Basically what I'm trying to say is, every case is a case, and painties should be judged individually, and it would be up to the person making the paintie to make sure they don't look like another species, instead of making such a broad new rule.
I'm sure someone could easily take parts of a rare species and still make the paintie look nothing like the species used and make it original, know what I mean? I feel like this is going to hinder some artists that can't reproduce certain parts in the furvilla style, that's all.
Spiritburn No, if I redraw DAD wings in even a slightly different position it should be completely fine. They aren't trying to restrict all wings or anything, they're just trying to keep the rare species stuff to the rare species.
From what I can tell, the DAD wings are pretty generic looking, so as long as you don't use copy-paste those exact wings I don't think you should have a problem.
Azzie
Actually, from what I understand, if you re-draw them and they look very similar to the DaD wings already on-site, they will still get rejected. Because whether they look very similar or were the actual wings that were edited, the staff probably can't tell.
So ShaunDreclin has a very valid point. If they keep adding more costumes and "rare" breeds, eventually any edits made will be too similar to existing parts on those bases and would get more and more rejected painties.
Ok, but, the site does not have a greyhound base. From what I understood my paintie was rejected because the base I used,
the correct one, the one that also dogs usewasn't recognizable because I highly edited the head (also maybe because I added clothes but I think I've seen painties with clothes too?). Then what the heck am i supposed to do? My character is a greyhound and they simply don't have a Border Collie face structure. Not trying to sound rude tho.ShaunDreclin oh yeah lol that would get pretty restrictive if that was the case XD
