Rule Clarifications and MOD Updates
Posted by Mat on 12 Jul 2016, 12:26 pm
We have been consolidating and reviewing a lot of feedback on various rules we have, and are happy to announce that all of the updated rules have been released.
1. The Terms of Service no longer forbids breasts, but instead focuses entirely on nipple exposure. Breasts are now allowed on Painties as well as artwork posted on Furvilla provided they follow the nipple rule. We feel this best represents a SFW environment while also not implying sexualization of people with that body shape.
2. The Terms of Service clarify our position on game asset trading with other browser games. The short answer is, we are fine with trading, however, we would like you to wait until the game is out of beta before doing so.
3. The Code of Conduct now indicates that CSS should not be used to cover or alter game stat information, including hiding or altering your or your villager's stats, or replacing your villager's image with CSS.
4. Our Forum Rules have now been updated to indicate that the phrase 'illegal drugs' refers to United States federal law, as there are discrepancies between the laws of different countries regarding what is an illegal drug, as well as individual states within the US.
5. Finally, after taking in all feedback with Painties and speaking with our Paintie moderators, we have completely revamped the Painties rule page in a way we hope clarifies everything regarding Paintie rules. We have been struggling with the inventive ways that players are creating some Painties, but unfortunately some are created in ways we did not intend for our bases to be used. We hope that this guide clarifies what we consider permissible for the use of our bases and helps clear confusion.
That now covers all the rules that have been changed thanks to your feedback. We also wanted to let you know that moderator applications are now closed. We received over a thousand applications and have hired our team. We do not yet have an ETA on releasing the forums as the moderators are occupied with ironing out issues with Painties. We will provide you an update when we have an idea of when the forums will be ready to re-release.
Last, here are a list of changes that have been implemented since Monday, the majority of them from suggestions e-mailed to us:
- grayed out Change Career button when idle
- destroy unwanted recipes from career page
- removed white gradient on long Private Messages
- Transfer Currency / Transfer Item on user page
- horizontal scrollbar appear in the message box when needed
- view all recipes/their reagents for reference: searching items in the museum now provides a list of reagents (for recipes), or a link to the recipe that crafts the item, or links to all recipes that use the item
- placed a button in the blacksmith career page that straight away takes you to repair requests
- Villagers page indicates which villagers are sick and with what
- item pages now include links to NPC shops if the item stocks there
- Paintie Removal button to strip a Paintie from a villager at the user's request
- the following items can now be used from the inventory on villagers who are not the active villager: medicines, pets, recipes, costumes, species potions, hp potions
Painties that were accepted before this rule was implemented should not be taken down and be Grandfathered in. There are many users real life currency, one that they realistically cannot be expected to returned because their paintie is no longer valid. It's also not fair to ask those artist to redo the things for free because of the fact the site messed up on their ToS. This is completely unacceptable because of the rules that were present before this. New ones, fine. But old ones? This hurts everyone, including the site.
I can (and have) make tons of DAD potions. It is not "rare". I would gladly give a DAD potion to have the wings on my paintie because they are the largest, best looking wings I can splice. Hell, I'd use 10 if it meant my German Shepherd could have the glorious wings she deserves.
They're also the easiest to use. The dragons with feathery wings aren't bad, but they're a nightmare with all the work you have to do to remove the tail in the way.
Now Gembound? Yeah, I can understand that. That costs $20 USD. But nobody using the DAD wings wants a fake DAD. They just want the pretty wings. If I could use a potion on a DAD and shove my German Shepherd entirely on there and just use the wings, I would.
Please consider having users submit the potion with their paintie if they want to splice it from the "rare" breeds. This makes them pay to the price of the potion, thus invalidating any "rarity" issues.
If I have to pay for a species for certain traits, like a gembounds gems or a DAD's wings, then people should not be able to take those wings or gems and put them on a base that they did not have to pay for. That's my stance on this. There are plenty, plenty of alternatives and for people who are deadset on using these specific things, sorry. You can still have wings, you can still have gems, you just can't rip those exact gems or those exact wings and put them on a free base. If you don't have money for commissions and you aren't willing to wait, there really isn't anything I can do for you.
It's not specifically the wings? It's things like the Wickerbeast tail or ears from a Manokit. It's not just the wings that people are complaining about. The wings are just the example we're using.
Daifaux the "feathered" dragon wings don't match my OCs. End of story. I shouldn't be penalized just because I happen to have horses with large wings as OCs.
Daifaux
That's fine and dandy until you realize that trying to find small wings is hard to do. Even with the feathered dragon wings, if they get re-sized too much they lose quality compared to the rest of the base. Which is what one of my friends wants (cute small wings for her pegasus character.)
If you can find cute, small, feathered wings that are not on a restricted species or costume, be my guest.
aside from my issues with some of the new paintie rules, i do greatly appreciate all the little tweaks that have been going on, especially being able to use items on a villager that's not the active one. no more having to constantly switch back and forth for giving medicines/recipes!
Since everyone keeps mentioning the DAD wings.....you do know you can splice from the Dragon base instead for wings? They aren't a rare species so it should be fine. There is the regular wings on them and a more feathery version too. or Be fancy creative and take from one of the bird bases.....some how....If you are really set on splicing, there are other ways.
Out of topic, but I keep laughing when someone says something like "get a DAD", "I have a DAD", and "I don't want a DAD" because I imagine an actual dad, not the species.
Azzie Right, let me spend money that I don't have on commissions!!! Or until someone makes wings with a style that matches or that looks good!!!! easy!!! simple!!!! yeah!!!! There isn't any issue from splicing wings At all. Just because someone has wings added on to a painitie isn't the end of the world.
I do believe some of these updates are amazing! But I strongly disagree with some of the paintie ones. What is the point of making a paintie if you cannot change the base? Many people's painties are being declined just because they edited something! Also, whats up with not being able to have parts from rare species and costumes? So does that mean I can't give my wolf angel wings? Or have a character that has the same type of tail as a Gembound? Many people now can't even express their characters because of these two new rules?! So what if a character has a similar trait to a rare species, they still own the character!
I'm just pointing out what I think about this. I'm not trying to offend, nor make anyone upset.
