Rule Clarifications and MOD Updates

We have been consolidating and reviewing a lot of feedback on various rules we have, and are happy to announce that all of the updated rules have been released.

1. The Terms of Service no longer forbids breasts, but instead focuses entirely on nipple exposure. Breasts are now allowed on Painties as well as artwork posted on Furvilla provided they follow the nipple rule. We feel this best represents a SFW environment while also not implying sexualization of people with that body shape.

2. The Terms of Service clarify our position on game asset trading with other browser games. The short answer is, we are fine with trading, however, we would like you to wait until the game is out of beta before doing so.

3. The Code of Conduct now indicates that CSS should not be used to cover or alter game stat information, including hiding or altering your or your villager's stats, or replacing your villager's image with CSS.

4. Our Forum Rules have now been updated to indicate that the phrase 'illegal drugs' refers to United States federal law, as there are discrepancies between the laws of different countries regarding what is an illegal drug, as well as individual states within the US.

5. Finally, after taking in all feedback with Painties and speaking with our Paintie moderators, we have completely revamped the Painties rule page in a way we hope clarifies everything regarding Paintie rules. We have been struggling with the inventive ways that players are creating some Painties, but unfortunately some are created in ways we did not intend for our bases to be used. We hope that this guide clarifies what we consider permissible for the use of our bases and helps clear confusion.

That now covers all the rules that have been changed thanks to your feedback. We also wanted to let you know that moderator applications are now closed. We received over a thousand applications and have hired our team. We do not yet have an ETA on releasing the forums as the moderators are occupied with ironing out issues with Painties. We will provide you an update when we have an idea of when the forums will be ready to re-release.

Last, here are a list of changes that have been implemented since Monday, the majority of them from suggestions e-mailed to us:
- grayed out Change Career button when idle
- destroy unwanted recipes from career page
- removed white gradient on long Private Messages
- Transfer Currency / Transfer Item on user page
- horizontal scrollbar appear in the message box when needed
- view all recipes/their reagents for reference: searching items in the museum now provides a list of reagents (for recipes), or a link to the recipe that crafts the item, or links to all recipes that use the item
- placed a button in the blacksmith career page that straight away takes you to repair requests
- Villagers page indicates which villagers are sick and with what
- item pages now include links to NPC shops if the item stocks there
- Paintie Removal button to strip a Paintie from a villager at the user's request
- the following items can now be used from the inventory on villagers who are not the active villager: medicines, pets, recipes, costumes, species potions, hp potions

    • I still think a more expensive option to create your own totally new base would fix a lot of the issues with players that have characters that simply just do not fit any standard in the game and probably never will. Examples being mollusks, created species, or people like me who want my characters depicted as I want--- which according to the rules is not allowed. But that's not what I came to say.

$1 is hilariously inexpensive and in my opinion... undercharging yourselves for the hostility that is dealt with from the players. I've mentioned before that I've worked for a game that does this exact thing... except I wasn't being paid. I don't even know if moderators here are volunteers or actual staff but the point remains that I understand what it's like to be screamed at or treated with disrespect due to player frustration regarding their designs.
The difference between this and that? The designs I accepted were on easily editable bases. If a change needed to be made it only took a moment. Furvilla bases are a ROYAL PAIN to edit because we are forced to redraw and edit and shade things ourselves. This is why I'm incredibly disappointed in the course of action taken this weekend in regards to Painties.

I understand that the site is only 2 weeks old and that it's in Beta. I understand. But these bases are hell to edit if it's not just a recolor. If I made a paintie of my character myself that could be 4-5 hours of work trying to get it to look acceptable to me. I can draw but this isn't my style, I can't shade like this, and sometimes I don't consider the anatomy to be correct on certain bases. This also goes for people I commission... that's money lost for a product I can't use.

Where I'm disappointed is how the staff handled things:
      - I got to see over 10 rejection messages from my friends and they were all copy-pasted messages
      - None of those copy-pasted messages told them how to fix it
      - They now had to e-mail someone to have it looked at
      - Painties that had more wild edits were accepted but only because they had 20% of the original base whereas other painties were rejected (even when the final results looked similar) because it had been completely redrawn. This has happened more than once.
      - This gave players the impression that their painstaking or expensive edits would be allowed
      - People need to be told how to fix their Paintie upon rejection
      - A correspondence screen would be more helpful to talk to the original moderator that rejected the Paintie rather than having to now deal with the nuanced opinions of several people

Essentially this boils down to staff were enforcing rules that hadn't been detailed yet... THAT IS MY PROBLEM! It is an enormous problem and I very much hope that it never happens again. I don't mean to be aggressive about it but that is so much time and money lost over things that were never told to us.

It would be easier just to make more expensive options for editing or creating. This site advertised its customization, and I'm never going to get the full extent of it with my artistic vision -- this isn't a huge loss, but I know I came here under the impression that this is what was being delivered. I don't care so much about the splicing DAD wing problem, but I do have a lot of opinions about everything else. :/

    • @CerberusSoul

I do also agree with the idea of us being able to vote on the rules instead of them just being added with no user feedback whatsoever. I would personally have been glad to vote in the ability to use "rare" species parts, as grandfathering would be unfair to new users, and completely removing them all would be unfair to the users themselves.

    • @CerberusSoul

I can understand where they're coming from, though. Some of those painties may have taken hours of time and effort to make only for them to be removed from the site after being accepted, because of a new rule. I get what you're saying too, though. Overall I don't really have much of an opinion of the issue at hand, omg.

    • Personally I think this is very childish and if you had concerns about the rules you should just bring them up to staff with your suggestions instead of rioting and arguing in comments. I'm guilty for this, not on this thread, but I am, but I had enough decency to actually write up a message to the staff with my concerns about specific paintie rules, and how I would suggest they'd be changed. I personally thought the paintie rules were fine how they were in the first place. I do agree that it was unfair to rip hours of work away from painties users were very proud to get in the game, I was very happy myself when my angel dragon and fursona were able to be added, and I'm sure others were happy as well. Then there's that disappointment of their character suddenly being illegal. And do agree that these rules are starting to limit specific fursonas and creativity and the fact that not everyone is fortunate enough to do their own art or commission someone. Might not even be brave enough or social enough to want to ask someone to do one for them if they were being offered for free because I personally felt guilty asking a friend to do the hair on my Zinnia's paintie. But yeah, this thread of comments was pretty childish and could have been handled a lot better.

    • I think opinions should be put into a vote.
Because obviously, the ones that want to be grandfathered in only care about getting their painties accepted and bypassing the rule.

So just because you happened to submit your splice before the rule-change, you discredit anyone else that would like to use rare bases as well? That's like a slap in the face..
      --
Anyway..having a shop with either different pose options or extra parts for the main bases would be a better fix to this suddenly spiraling problem.

    • @Gull You obviously took multiple statements from my comments, but, I do agree with everything you said.

I honestly got nothing else to say about this comment, move on.

    • I think, personally, that the rule change was an incredibly good one and also that it was good that it was added to the site so early into its inception. I think that saying this update ""ruined lives"" or anything of that nature (taking away rights is a hilariously gross overstatement that is genuinely baffling to me) is just trying to jump on the hate train for a change that makes sense.
I personally am of the opinion that grandfathered in designs would only lead to worse things in the future and further drama, where biting the bullet now and changing the rule VERY early into the site's release is a genuinely good way to handle the situation.

I do very much agree with an earlier statement (I cant for the life of me remember who made it, apologies) that having a base of extra parts/separate parts would be a really neat addition to the site as well! For people who cant/dont want to imitate the style of the painties it could be a really cool option. Understandably, it would probably take time to put together, but might be something cool to think about!

I think people forget though that this site is offering more or less unlimited creativity for an INCREDIBLY reasonable rate. Ither sites such a subeta & flight rising have price-points for this sort of thing that start at $10 & $20 respectively - and the rules for flight rising skins is HILARIOUSLY intense especially when compared to this - and other sites like Neopets dont have this sort of option at all.

The option to be creative with our villagers is awesome, the ability to edit them at all is SO AWESOME and I think the fact that they are willing to realize that they didnt outline the rules enough and are correcting that situation is a very good thing. The mods have been so willing to talk to and work with people to help them despite the fact that they have a ton going on right now, which again is more than some of the other mentioned sites have ever offered.

I'm genuinely disappointed with a lot of the reactions from a lot of the users on this site, from insulting to aggression to straight up fear-mongering i sort of expected better and i really hope that people are more willing to be flexible with potential rule changes in the future.

    • Mutiny Agreed. It would be helpful if other players who do not understand what their actually saying.

    • Xalix I don't think it's unfair, but it is frustrating. I'm sure it's frustrating for the administration as well, though. Trying to figure out a way to balance this site that's apparently much bigger than they expected. I hope that perhaps they choose to address this issue a little more, more explanation/perhaps a bit of flexibility. It might help to soothe the tempers/ease the fears of some users,
