    • This just in, fluffy costumes give +5 explorer turns.
Okay so, if i want an explorer the best thing to do would be to give them a fluffy costume regardless of if I like it or not and regardless of their species.
I have a raccoon explorer. Poor him I guess, gotta toss him out now because he can't get those buffs?
I'd be willing to atleast partially compromise on this. Maybe, once costumes are available for all villagers have us be able to pick and choose the buffs. Like, either a boost to crafting and blacksmithing OR five extra explorer turns. Something like that. That way we have a little more choice over it.

    • My problem is..I like the idea of the 'equipment' that is reflected on my character.

I like it when I say "my character is holding a sword' and then it actually shows up on my character.
I like it when I put on a tunic..and my character is shown as having a tunic.
I like what my character has in game..to somehow being shown.

But this is also a creative game, people are supposed to show their creative side.
I'd personally like buffs that you can somehow see on your character sheet...but don't over-ride your character. Such as pets giving buffs...or some different effects you can move around your screen....and design a paintie to correctly include, as well as it easily fitting in with current bases (that is why we arn't supposed to change it too much right?)

I mean being able to use a paintie over the costume kinna works for now...but then this makes the already expensive costumes even more expensive as people will want the buffs.

But what if I don't want my cat to have wings or a steampunk outfit? This whole situation doesn't seem fair to people who well, don't want to use costumes for some/all of their villagers. Not to mention implementing this now when only 6 villager types can even wear them gives people without/little of those six a huge disadvantage! What if there's a buff that decreases warrior times and then all the warriors would have to wear it whether they wanted to or not to stay on the high-score table? (which im not on btw). I think of costumes like paintbrushes in Neo. They look cool and everyone wants them because they look cool. They don't make your pet any better at doing anything.

    • Going to give a slightly different perspective.

Many games have equipment you can wear, the equipment changes your look, as well as gives you stats.

On the other end we are being encouraged to make painties, and many people have already made painties for their base. Do we now need to pay again in order to make a paintie for a costume?

My idea of an alchemist is someone wearing more steampunky gear (as my Junion villager shows), in fact thats doctor/alchemist for him. Why does he get blacksmith/crafting if I give him that outfit?

This has it's ups and downs...but attaching stats will make it so people will feel restricted in their creativity of making their character. And if you just allow us to use our old painties over a costume, why even give costumes buffs, and why not create some other system to give buffs?

    • Azzie
To my knowledge, you can have painties over costumes.

    • I really don't like that costumes give buffs.. Now I feel obligated to have a bunch of costumes instead of custom paintie wears like I had originally wanted..
Not even mentioning the fact that costumes only work on six villager types..
      The whole situation is blegh.
