Seeking Moderators
Posted by Mat on 2 Jul 2016, 9:15 pm
Greetings, villagers! As you may have noticed we received a massive influx of players over the last day. This is far more than our little team of moderators can handle, so we're looking to expand our moderator team, and welcome some new Player Safety members! If you are interested in applying for a moderator position, please send a message to [email protected] with the following: your Furvilla username, your age, your location and time zone, your prior moderation experience, and why you'd like to be a moderator on Furvilla. Please note that we can only accept applications from players aged eighteen or older.
Also, we have a message to share from MOD-Deinmaar, the Head of Community, who would like to address some issues with our current moderators' actions:
The moderators owe the entire Furvilla Community a massive apology. The deletion of many, many threads that never actually violated the Terms of Service wasn't right of us, and we are working to rectify and retrain our team before we open the forums and chats again to make sure this is never an issue again. Miscommunication is no excuse, and we gravely apologize for the trauma this has caused many users who did absolutely nothing wrong. We sincerely hope you enjoy the rest of the site while we work diligently to right our wrongs.
Furvilla has received a much higher amount of registrations than we were prepared for and we're working to ensure our Forums and Chatrooms are welcoming to all members. Please bear with us while we hire additional help! In the meantime, if you haven't gotten a chance, please be sure to read the Newbie Guide and continue your enjoyment of the game.
Have a lovely night!
1.) whats the skype chats for exactly? 2.) I might want a link to one
Well, I had no idea that there was inappropriate things happenings, I saw some things like "Lesbians" and such, but I didn't think there would be things to the extremes for a cute furry website meant for only those who wish to use the website to have a creative mind and control over your own village of furries and jobs to take seriously, not stuff that is so bad this game seems ineligible for children...but, I find it everywhere now a days, sometimes I can fix it, other times I cant and have to either leave or bear the pain of having to go through with people using the internet as their "playhouse" and targeting innocents...
For example, on a different game I play, a boy kept going into chat and asking for "Mature" things. and a little gurl that cant even spell the word "Female" right accepts what he asks, I go in and start spawn killing the guy so things wouldn't go wrong because he asked the poor girl " tell me where u live" and "whats your full name" and it made me furious, he finally leaves after I kill him over 200 times and the girl argues with me, I explain, and next thing I know, shes corrupted and finds a wplayert kill, asking very bad things... people, little lesson to learn, you should never...N-E-V-E-R even think about this content online with a random and complete stranger. its horrid and can ruin your life forever, you think its sweet and innocent till the other person starts acting unseemly and asking extremely personal questions, its top rules of internet society! DONT TELL ANYTHING PERSONAL TO YOUR LIFE TO ANY ONE YOU MEET OVER THE INTERNET!
I made my two points on the matter,
I would love to be a moderator, but sadly, I cannot. I don't have enough experience and, well, parents also come in with safety precautions about the internet. Hopefully you can find some great moderators though, because I have never, ever, been on the forums! Maybe you should try to have a list of words players cannot say in the forums until we get more moderators?
Mutiny Hey there! If you need any help or have some questions that you don't feel like posting here for whatever reason, feel free to PM me! This game can be super confusing at first, but I've gotten a lot of help from other players, so I've got the hang of it for the most part! And there is no such thing as a dumb question, so don't feel that any questions you have are too unimportant/easy or something like that. c:
I hope this isn't a misuse of the news comment section but I just wanted to say that I'm really looking forward to when the forums are back up because I have a lot of questions I would like to ask but can't really do so now. I've already made at least one pretty dumb mistake that hopefully can be fixed without too much of a problem.

This is why we rely on any super helpful users that report inappropriate usernames, villager names, topics, and comments. It's hard to police every single topic in the forums, and I don't want to have to do that anyway. I want people to have appropriate topic conversations without me or my mods looming over them like vultures. Lol
Eugh. I saw most of them, many of the players came from a game called Transformice, (which I play) on the "Cafe". The Cafe is a "free-forums" with no rules except for no trading art for off-site items. They were laughing about how they were naming their characters certain names and posting topics.
Can't wait to find the new mods! I bet they would be great!

Here's the thing, to be forced to be silent and told you can't talk to others publicly about your experiences with a Mental Illness/Disability/etc., in a Community that should be extremely accepting, just because it holds potential to be bullied, CAN very well be emotionally traumatic to those who have to deal with that kind of stuff every day. I chose my words after the many messages I received about how outcasted, ignored, and attacked the deletion of support threads made them feel. It's not a physical or extreme trauma like some have, but for them, it is still a trauma. I'm not going to belittle what effect that our actions have had on them, no matter how minor, and honestly, nobody else should either. Just because it's not the same type or degree of trauma survivors have had to go to therapy does not mean that it's not there, and I am in no way saying that the two are equal. My intent was not to insult anybody. I wouldn't have this position if it was. My intent is to try and make this game welcoming to everybody, and to protect those who feel that those support threads could have been a type of minor therapy for them in dealing with what they have to. And we took that away, and it wasn't right.
Going forward, I guess I will refrain from using that word. But nothing can be done to change what I've written, and I'm not going to apologize for taking the emotions of those effected by what we did into consideration.
So many unnecessary threads were made... Who cares about your orientation or political movement/option? Guys, it's a game forum, not a place for stuff like that. Mods did a good job removing most of that stuff. Keep personal things personal!

There were.. Some very.. Very inappropriate things posted that day. Things kids should never have to see.
It was honestly disgusting and trauma is the exact word that should be used IMO
Sorry if I seem kinda snappish.
