Incoming Sales Tax

Furvilla is in the process of implementing a FurCash sales tax for the user shops. When a player sells an item to another player for FurCash, a sales tax of 5% will be removed from the purchase price, and the remainder will be deposited into the shop till as normal. The goal of this addition is to help sink small amounts of FurCash and ensure the strength of the currency. When calculating the tax, it will be 5% of the total, rounded down, with a minimum of 1 FurCash.
This change will be implemented in forty-eight hours or at 2:00 AM Furvilla Time on August 17th, so please be sure to alter your item prices if desired before that deadline.
In addition, the Moth Morphing Potion has been released into Olde Foxbury, and three new species colors are released -- Culpeo Fox, Long Eared Owl, and Osprey Raptor. We have also completed construction of the Trades page, which allows players to trade villagers, items, and currency freely. The link to the Trades page is located on the Town Hall.
Okay...I don't mind the idea of a Sales Tax... but it kind of annoys me that it's set up differently than a "Sales Tax" actually is >.> It kinda P****s me off that the incorrect termminology was used here :/ I was under the impression, when I saw the title of this thread, that it would be a tax that would take a little extra out of the pocket of whoever's buying the product, LIKE AN ACTUAL SALES TAX. Instead it seems to be an INCOME TAX, taking 5% out of what we've earned O.o forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think it's kinda annoying that I was told the wrong thing when looking at this thred -.- I don't want to have to do the math to figure out how to earn that 5% I'm missing out on, and I really shouldn't have to. If you're going to make a tax, at least have the decency to use proper grammar so I don't get confused and upset
I really don't think this is a very good idea for a game.. We've already got taxes in reality, we're playing games to get away from that! :<
I guess a lot of people on this site aren't on other sites or games where user marketplaces have sales tax.
The tax is there to remove the virtual currency from circulation. It doesn't go "anywhere," except into oblivion. We generate FC with exploration, item sell back, battles, etc. When you buy from a user's shop, that FC just transfers to a different account, which means it's still in circulation.
As more and more people generate FC with their daily (hourly) activities, the worth of the FC goes down because there's so much FC in existence that no one really cares about it anymore. It's not in demand. When there's too much currency, prices of user-sold items have to rise to accommodate the demand + supply of items.
Right now, our only method of sinking FC is buying items from the NPC shops. And frankly, right now, that's simply not enough. That's why we get, why we NEED, the sales tax on user marketplaces. It's an extra sink to help remove a lot of excess FC from the site, which can help to regulate prices and keep things from getting too ridiculous.
Sales tax is implemented on other sites for the same reason. It's not as bad as you might think, and it's really not going to hurt anyone.
Herbalist pots were useful before, but now, with a limit of 200 hourly harvests and unlimited villagers, they're not much good~
You even have to do taxes and tax returns in games now, rip.
Why can't their just be a minimum price for things instead of taxes?
Im so confused though like where would this tax money go? Like is it just to make buying stuff harder? Cause people will just end up trading to get passed it i dont see a point.. Hopefully it becomes useful..
The economy is already tanked as it is. I can't sell hardly anything in my stall anymore and make a better profit than selling it out of my inventory, adding a sales tax is just.... ridiculous. There are better ways to make a FC sink.
EW.
Furvilla - 100% against capitalism.
why not make the inventory expanse a furcash sink rather than a dollar one?
