Incoming Sales Tax

Furvilla is in the process of implementing a FurCash sales tax for the user shops. When a player sells an item to another player for FurCash, a sales tax of 5% will be removed from the purchase price, and the remainder will be deposited into the shop till as normal. The goal of this addition is to help sink small amounts of FurCash and ensure the strength of the currency. When calculating the tax, it will be 5% of the total, rounded down, with a minimum of 1 FurCash.
This change will be implemented in forty-eight hours or at 2:00 AM Furvilla Time on August 17th, so please be sure to alter your item prices if desired before that deadline.
In addition, the Moth Morphing Potion has been released into Olde Foxbury, and three new species colors are released -- Culpeo Fox, Long Eared Owl, and Osprey Raptor. We have also completed construction of the Trades page, which allows players to trade villagers, items, and currency freely. The link to the Trades page is located on the Town Hall.
AHEM..... BOO!
To everyone she-dogging about the tax: Stop.
We're not experiencing Inflation when people are literally charging the sellback price for items or undercharging for items to make a quick profit. It's a deflation.
Want to actually make money without the tax? Forums.
No one has really been using the sales forums. Why should they? They can just drop everything into the shop, price at the lowest and sit and wait.
There. Problem solved.
There are people with millions and the lottery has not helped that.
Expensive items? They're in high demand. That's why they're expensive. People are buying them for that price anyway!
Just my 2 cents.
....this is to slow down rampant undercutting.... you do know this year? It's a good call
DAMN SHWATY OK !
Finished villagers always go in here :D including the newest ones: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0Xp7S4HmN0ffjhScVFnWUdSWlMtaTdrTTFlbXJlRW5VeC1CMG1GN1Q5QjAtT2FFQWpLOGs
So you don't hafta make a new villager to see them.
I like this update. Thank you!
Mmm salty goodness. Yum yum yum yum.
k
hurr durr taxes are bad and economy is scary
But for real though, I don't mind taxes, but could you PLEASE make a trading system for undomesticated pets in stables? That would be life changing.
Look, I've defended a lot of choices Furvilla has made. However, this is one of the ones that I am truly against. My interest in this site just plummeted. I don't want to be taxed for using a feature that one other pet sites, wouldn't be taxing me for. If you wanted to implement sales tax, might I suggest doing it in NPC shops?
If you are looking for ways to actually get rid of Furcash. Here are some options that might work better:
1. Allow users to buy inventory space and storage space with Furcash not Furdollar. This is a basic feature for most pet sites that don't charge premium currency for a basic function.
2. Allow users the option to have galleries. Allow the gallery space to be upgraded with Furcash.
3. NPC Quests. I'm pretty sure I don't need to explain how quests work but if you need me to, you can mail me. ^.^
4. Add in a Junk collection area. Allow users to trade in items that are "junk". Add in a new currency and allow users to buy items with the new currency.
5. Premium Membership item for Furcash. The premium membership would need some perks to be worth it.
6. Actually, restock items in NPC shops. The items just sit there. There is no quantity on them. Some of them have become worthless and overbought. Some could even have a rarer chance of restocking.
7. Place user playable games onto the site. Preferably not flash because this can cause problems for some users. One of them could be a game like slots. Charge users a small amount of Furcash for a chance at the jackpot.
8. Add in an achievement system. People LOVE achievements and will work very hard to get them. Some will even spend millions to get achievements.
As of right now, there is not a problem with how much Furcash is in the community. The problem is simply: Supply vs. Demand. The supply is massively outweighing the demand for some of the items on the site. Right now, Cloudogs can be bought from NPC shops for 100 FC. Yet, sell for 10 FC and under in user shops. This is because there are so many of them in circulation. The site needs ways to get some of these items OUT of circulation and for a lack of better terms, deleted.
The Furcash we do have doesn't have any real uses at the moment. Really there are only two places to use Furcash; villager houses, and buying items from users. One of which you just put a tax on. Which means less people are going to be using the feature. Those items that sit at 10 FC in your shop? Yeah, you are losing currency now.
We need new ways to spend our Furcash. Not kill the amount we have right now. We need ways to get rid of the amount of items in circulation. The site needs to create ways for the demand to go up again on specific items. If the site doesn't do this, the tax could be 50% and it still wouldn't matter because most of your items will be sitting at 1 FC.
It would also help if we had new players. See, most of the people who are playing on a regular bases already have everything they want in game. So now, they are just trying to make Furcash to turn into Furdollar for painties. They will undercut each other to get the fastest sale. This is driving the price of items down even below their inventory sell price.
Are people really unsure of how to figure out the tax? You do (price) x .05 in a calculator. It doesn't matter if you're bad at math or not, just keep a basic calculator on hand when you sell stuff in your stall.
As for the tax itself, I... don't think it will change much since it's such a small amount. On Black Desert, their taxes are crazy, like 30-40% from each sale and they don't have an actual trade system so you cannot bypass the auction house taxes, plus it gives you a high and low range for what you can sell your item at, so no one can undercut too heavily. THAT is (annoying) economy control, but it keeps things afloat.
I do not think you guys can have such a tight grip on the economy like Black Desert does, but it might be worth looking at what they're doing, since it's kept things at reasonable prices so even people who just started a week ago can get decent gear if they grind an hour or two a day. THAT is accessibility and user friendliness.
