As even a centuries-old dragon needs some time for respite, Kijame found herself at a dilemma. Who was to make sure her village remained safe while she was not conscious? And there was still the matter of leaving her village in an effort to bring it back to life. What is a dragon to do when there's nobody who could be left behind to watch over it? Tenjou was the answer to that question.

Kijame was well aware of techniques that'd allow her to summon golems and the like to protect Ryû, but she wanted a living being that could make judgement calls on whether someone was an intruder with hostile intent or someone who got themselves so lost they ended up in this village. And, she wanted someone to protect Lokeni if need be. Through methods long lost in the tides of time, Tenjou was born. While his body gets reconstructed now and then, his core remains the same, with the only difference being in the things he learns along the way.

Initially serving as guardian over the village and Kijame's sleep, Tenjou was a relatively simple creature, perfectly content with his destined role and fulfilling it with great enthusiasm. Although sporting a masculine appearance, Tenjou is de facto genderless, as he was artificially created. He has no sense of gender per se but has accepted being referred to as male and subsequently adopted the pronouns, as he found it a lot easier than telling his life-story anew with each new encounter. While Tenjou knows next to nothing about his creation, it doesn't really bother him either.

Blacksmithing
Tenjou is a talented artisan and decided to put his skills to good use in crafting, tinkering, and even blacksmithing. There's nothing he won't do, because he has a strong need to be useful, and thus is always seen doing something or other to keep himself busy. What better way to serve the protection of Ryû than fortifying it with steel? Be it weapons and armor or metal plating on building and such, Tenjou set it upon himself to master the furnace for the sake of keeping everyone safe.

Crafting
As time passed, Tenjou noticed he also had a knack for the finer, more detailed pieces of work. He took up crafting as a bit of a change from the pounding on the anvil, and it soon became his favourite pastime, as he loved (dis)assembling the most intricate of things. Eventually his talent was so refined that other villagers would come to him when they were looking for special gifts to friends and loved ones.

Herbalism
Although Tenjou had a textbook type understanding of life and living beings, he felt far more comfortable in dealing with machines and inanimate objects, as emotions and feelings were something he was neither sure how to respond to, nor how to deal with. Upon consulting Roxanne on the matter, he decided to take up Herbalism to start small, with living beings whose emotional feedback wasn't as overwhelming as that of most sentient ones.

Additionally, taking care of plants is a slow and patient process, much different from the instant gratification he gets via smithing and crafting, so Tenjou can experience something completely new from what he's used to. It gives him plenty of time to think and reflect, and it looks like he'll need it too, for he developed a crush on his creator and has no idea how to deal with it.

Fighting
As Tenjou's understanding of living creatures grew, so did his curiousity, until one day he expressed a wish of his own for the first time: to see the world outside of Ryû. Kijame was happy to comply, under the condition that he knew how to handle himself. After some rigourous training, he managed to perform splendidly as a warrior. So splendid in fact, that eventually his position as Kijame's sleep watch was scrapped and instead he was appointed to become Lokeni's bodyguard. He feels rather conflicted about this and often has a hard time suppressing his jealousy of Sebastian, Kijame's new guard...
