Romance: He's probably denser than Osmium, but currently too absorbed in childish pranks to really care about feelings anyways.
A mischievous trickster of the highest order, that might be the best way to describe Kyûbei the Kitsune. Originally, he was a darkness in Kijame's heart with no sentient identity, and in her attempts to dispell any impurities, his spirit formed. When he was 'born' this way, he was actually quite malicious, so Kijame stowed him away in a corner of her soul until she knew what to do with him. Kyûbei didn't quite enjoy a soul so full of light and happiness and love and all those things, and feared he would be assimilated, so he (quite literally) built himself a shrine within her soul to hide away from all of those things he despised.
Carpentry
Indeed, the Kitsune was quite a skilled craftsman, and while Kijame wasn't quite fond of his reasons for hiding, she couldn't help but be impressed at his patience and endurance with woodworks. When he had built an entire replica of Ryû inside her soul, she decided that no person of pure evil could create something of such inherent beauty, and decided to give him a chance at living his own life. But as he were, there was still a risk of malice, so she couldn't just eject him from her soul. He needed a container.

It took her a while to figure out the procedure and details, but finally an opportunity was created. Kijame had met with a female Kyuubi willing to help her out. Kyûbei, hoping to finally have a chance to escape what he still considered a prison, hastily agreed without even asking how this was going to happen. When they told him he was going to be born into the world rather than just relocated, he actually figured this was advantageous to him, so he was even more eager.
Exploration
However, what Kyûbei failed to realize was that a (re)birth meant that, to an extent, his spirit would turn into a clean slate. Any previous memories were sealed or overwritted and otherwise inaccessible. By the time he was born, he no longer remembered anything about this ordeal and was just an ordinary child kitsune.
However, his mischievous character still remained, and while he was not downright malicious, he'd often get himself and others into trouble. His most dangerous habit was his drive to explore. Anything and anywhere, and often it would lead right to trouble. He could never quite explain why, but he had this urge to wander the lands and see new sights, and whenever he had to stay put anywhere, he felt quite restless.
Blacksmithing
Before long, his never-resting feet had carried him to Ryû. He wasn't sure why, but there was a familiarity about this place he couldn't explain. It felt almost like home, even though he'd never been there. The village leader invited him to stay, and so he did. There were many curious sights, but he found a particular interest in blacksmithing, observing what happened in the embers and on the anvil, until he decided to pick up this craft for himself. He seemed to have quite a hand for it too, and more often than not was busy with requests from others. Being needed by people wasn't something he was used to and he felt insecure about it. And inside his chest there was this strange warmth...
