Tailor
⚠️
This article needs to be updated after changes in gameplay regarding:
- new recipes
- costume buffs
- disease
Tailor is classified as an Artisan career, because it combines materials from Explorers, Warriors, and Crafters. It provides Costumes to change the appearance of your villager and to give Career buffs.
Your villager starts with an empty screen. Tailors need to learn Recipes called Pattern Books in order to work. A villager can learn any recipe from any village. There are 3 Costumes for each village, which means there are also 3 Pattern Books for each village.
Pattern Books for your village can be found in your village's shop . You have to dip into User Stalls or the Item Sales forum to pick up outside Pattern Books. All Pattern Books cost 375-625 FC in their respective village shops.
Once you have your desired Pattern Books, head into your Inventory to teach them to your villager.
Crafting a Pattern is as simple as clicking on it and waiting for 90 minutes. All of the recipes follow the same pattern of 1 Super Rare Reagent from Crafters, 250 Common Materials from Explorers, 250 Common Loot from Warriors, 1 Sewing Set, 5 Fabrics, and 2500 FC.
Sewing Sets are found in each village's crafting shop for 75-125 FC , while the Fabrics are found in each village's tailor shop for 75-125 FC .
Tailors can use a recipe as many times as they'd like once they have learned it. If you would like your villager to forget a recipe, the Unlearn option is available in the bottom left corner of every recipe window.
The Costumes made by your Tailor can change the appearance of some Villager species and give any Villager 2 Career buffs. A costumed villager can use the special Costume Bases when applying a Paintie, but the villager is still allowed to use the standard base instead of the Costume Base for Painties as well as apply a costume without removing an existing Paintie. Be sure to review the rules if making a Paintie.
Applying one of three costumes decreases crafting time by 5%.
As with any Career, your villager has a chance of falling ill with each completed action. Crafting time is doubled for a Tailor with a minor illness. Villagers with a major illness cannot work at all.
Costumes can be used on Villagers from the Inventory.

Costumes are consumed upon use, i.e. they are one-use items. This may be daunting since it requires a lot of Warrior effort to get here. The site will warn you when you go to use it. Remember only some species currently have Costumed appearances, but the Costume can be applied to any other species for the Career buffs. Contact [email protected] when the Costumed appearance becomes available if you would like to convert. The Shifty species will not have Costumed appearances, but they can still enjoy the Career buffs.
Clicking Give Costume shows you an icon of who you're using it on and a preview of their new form.
It's as simple as that.
The item is gone forever, so if you decide to Remove the costume appearance from your villager's page, you will not get it back.
You simply get to select a color of its species.
All Costumes may be previewed in the Costume Museum.
